Start with the enclosure, not the appliance

Measure each uninterrupted glass panel at its narrowest clear width and height. Exclude handles, clamps, hinges, towel bars, seals and overlaps. A sliding-door overlap or hinge is a boundary, not a bridge the robot should cross. Confirm that the panel is stable and cannot swing while the machine runs. Secure movable doors only by a method approved by the enclosure maker; do not create a makeshift brace that stresses glass.

Frameless shower panels require explicit open-edge approval for the exact robot model. Generic edge-sensing language is not enough. Framed units must still meet minimum size and frame rules. Keep electricity away from wet conditions

Coatings, soap film and hard-water scale

Many shower enclosures have factory-applied water-repellent coatings. Obtain the glass maker's cleaning instructions and confirm that the robot's pad, motion and solution are allowed. Clean pads are essential: trapped grit can mark a sensitive coating. Do not use abrasive powders, razor blades or acidic scale removers through or under the robot unless both manufacturers expressly approve them.

A maintenance pass may remove light film, but thick mineral deposits often need a surface-specific process. The robot is not a substitute for restoring etched glass. If scale changes the surface enough to disrupt suction or makes the pad drag, remove the unit and address the deposit manually according to the enclosure instructions.

A conservative first-use procedure

Test the setup on a reachable, dry panel while holding the handle until adhesion is confirmed. Attach the supplied tether when required, but do not use shower plumbing, a door handle or a movable rail as an anchor. Watch how the robot approaches every edge and item of hardware. Stop for slipping, repeated turns, pad bunching, spray near a seal or any pressure alert.

After removal, dry the robot exterior as directed, inspect pads for grit and keep the device out of the wet zone during storage. Choose manual cleaning when the enclosure is narrow, heavily segmented, movable, damaged, coated without approval or impossible to power safely.
